The second series of 4 DVD shows in the “Expert Hold’em” series – both created & presented by yours truly. For obvious reasons, I probably cannot give a truly objective review / rating of this product, as it is my own. But here is a short description of what you can expect – or at the very least, what I hope you can expect.
My initial goal with this series was to give good and accurate information for those of you who either switch / have switched / want to switch from limit hold’em to no-limit, or from no-limit to limit. Especially after the recent no-limit hold’em boom, many successful limit hold’em players have trouble becoming just as successful in the no-limit games, simply because they require an entirely different set of skills. And for many of these young players nowadays who start out by playing no-limit, and who at some time want to make a successful transition to limit, things may even be more difficult. This 4DVD-series was designed to fill that gap, and to provide all the information needed to make these kinds of transitions in a smooth and successful manner.
At the same time, I have used these shows to provide you with specific strategies on how to play certain types of hands under certain types of game conditions. I analyze into depth standard and advanced plays on all betting streets by getting inside the heads of both myself and my opponent(s). For no-limit, I explain ‘my’ system for playing a short, medium and large stack, and the (radical!) adjustments I think you should make in order to play with the biggest possible edge – depending on whether you started with little or lots of chips. And for limit, I have paid considerable attention to specifically play in the blinds. Not just before the flop, but more importantly I analyze how your preflop decisions can & should influence your post-flop decisions. I especially describe marginal hands rather than the ‘obvious’ premium ones, and I describe them in situations that require lots of judgment.
All in all, three DVD’s on no-limit hold’em and one on limit, even though I also talk about limit in the no-limit DVD’s – and vice versa. As the four shows clearly work together, it would be best to purchase the entire series rather than just separate shows – so that you get to see the complete picture, and in the exact context that I want.

All in all, a more than decent series on limit and no-limit hold’em. However, as I am not a native speaker, my Dutch accent can clearly be heard, and this has been the source of irritation for some people. I don’t consider myself to be the most charismatic of presenters, and the release of the Ed Miller / David Sklansky book “No-limit Hold’em Theory & Practice” that followed shortly after these DVD’s, has also reduced the exclusivity of my information somewhat. And finally, almost always the DVD’s are about full-ring games, while 6-max. seems to have taken over as the dominating game. Yet, despite all these points of criticism, and despite the high pricing of the DVD-set, the information provided is almost certainly of high enough quality to warrant its purchase.
