First of all: Happy New Year to everyone. May all your wishes come true, at and especially outside of the tables.

The beginning of the New Year is usually not just looking ahead to the future, it is also looking back at the previous year. For me, it was a busy and interesting year. Some highlights:

- I crossed the $500k in live tournament winnings.
- I had my first-ever year of more than $200k prize money in these live tournaments. (Not the same as profit though!)
- I had a few new columns, and some new book projects.
- I moved successfully into the world of 6-max and heads up games.
- I had more fun!

Of course, there were also some not-so-good things. The sponsordeal wasn't the biggest success obviously, and I am still waiting whether or not I can get back my funds. Also, even though I performed well in the live tourneys, I did not win a single event. Nonetheless, because of my good & consistent results I have been named PokerCity's "Dutch Player of the Year 2008", and I am obviously proud of that.

The next year will probably be:

- More online play.
- Lots of new books.
- Less major live tourneys, other than the really big ones like the WSOP & the EPT Grand Final.
- More tourneys in my home country.
- And hopefully, even more fun!
