Those of you who read my regular Ace Speaks poker column in Card Player magazine, know that I'm a
big fan of poetry. In fact, I have dedicated two articles to the subject, called
"About Success - A bit of poetry part I" and "Choices and Considerations - A bit of poetry part II".
What most of you probably don't know, is that I have written quite a bit of poetry myself - Dutch poetry, to be precise. Now, of course these works got nothing to do with poker, but they may give you a little insight in my views, thoughts and feelings in real life - away from the table.
In this section of the site, you can find a selection of poems I have written over the years.
What I do is this. Every month, starting January 2010, I publish a Dutch poem on my weblog, these monthly publications get reproduced over here.

Dit is een bericht uit Wenen,
De stad waar ik nu ben.
Waar ik nu
Woon, werk,
Mijn leven heb. Niet
Dat ik je verlaten heb, niet
Dat ik een ander heb.
Ik heb slechts mijn leven hier.
Lief,
Je moet niet denken, dat ik
Niet iedere dag meer bij je ben.
Je moet niet denken, dat ik
Iedere dag bij iemand anders ben.
Je moet niet denken
Dat iemand anders nu mij liefheeft
Zoals jij dat had, zoals jij dat had. Dat,
Omdat ik plotseling verdwenen was
Ik niet intens van je gehouden heb. Dat,
Omdat ik te belazerd was om eerlijk te zijn
Ik tegen je gelogen heb. Want ik hield van je, ik
Hield van je, ik hield van je.
Ik heb nu slechts mijn leven hier.
